Governor John McKernan, Jr

Governor John McKernan, Jr. is Senior Advisor at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Chair 
of its Advisory Board on Education and the Workforce. Governor McKernan also serves as chairman and 
CEO of consulting and investment firms McKernan Enterprises, Inc. and Nottingham Equity, Inc. He 
served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Education Management Corporation, where he also 
served as CEO from 2003 to 2007, and still serves as a Director. He is also a director of Houghton 
Mifflin Harcourt, a global education learning company, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of 
the Foundation for Maine’s Community Colleges. Governor McKernan served his native state of Maine 
for two terms in the U.S. Congress and then as Governor for two four-year terms from 1987 to 1995. 
During his two terms, Governor McKernan was Chairman of the Education Commission of the States and 
the National Education Goals Panel. He has a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from the 
University of Maine School of Law. He is married to former U.S. Sen. Olympia J. Snowe.

Brian Jones

Brian Jones has dedicated his career to education, serving in a number of roles to advance education availability and accessibility. He is the former General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Education; has served as the Chairman of the District of Columbia Public Charter School Board and continues to serve as a Director; and was Co-Founder and President of Latimer Education, Inc., a venture-backed company that partners with historically black colleges to provide African-American students with online educational opportunities. Mr. Jones has also served as Senior Counsel in the postsecondary education practice group at the law firm of Dow Lohnes PLLC. He earned his B.S. degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Georgetown University and his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law.

Dr. Bronte Jones

Dr. Bronte Jones is Vice President for Finance & Administration at Dickinson where she oversees all financial operations and serves as Chief Asset Manager. She also serves as a Commissioner on the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and as a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of Higher Education Resource Services (“HERS”), dedicated to creating and sustaining a community of women and achieving equality and excellence in higher education. Dr. Jones has served as Treasurer of St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, and Vice President for Administration and Finance at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. She holds a Bachelor's degree in finance, an MBA from American University, and a PhD in higher-education administration from the University of Texas, Austin. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Harvard Institute for Higher Education and the Higher Education Resource Services Institute for Women in Higher Education at Wellesley College.
